Swiss Venture Capital Report 2026

The Swiss startup ecosystem has demonstrated remarkable resilience and growth. According to the newly released Swiss Venture Capital Report 2026, the "financing crisis" of previous years has officially been overcome. In 2025, venture capital investments in Swiss startups rose by 23.9%, reaching a total of CHF 2.95 billion.

Key Highlights from the 2026 Report:

  • Biotech at a Record High: The biotech sector achieved its best year ever with CHF 946.4 million in investments, a 25% increase over the previous record from 2020.

  • ICT Recovery: After a difficult 2024, the ICT sector saw an impressive comeback, with capital investment increasing by nearly 150% to CHF 773.6 million.

  • Early-Stage Momentum: A clear indicator of returning risk appetite is the 73% surge in early-stage financing, which reached a record CHF 1.116 billion.

  • Regional Growth: Zurich remains the primary hub with CHF 1.19 billion in investments (+89.5%), while Basel-Stadt reached a new record thanks to its biotech strength.

  • Large-Scale Exits: Although the number of exits is stabilizing, the quality is increasing: 2025 saw a record nine trade sales with valuations exceeding CHF 100 million.
